Commit to Break the Stigma Awards a $10,000 Grant to Metrocare's SPARC Program for Teen Suicide Prevention.
At Commit to Break the Stigma, we believe no young person should feel too ashamed or alone to ask for help. Stigma keeps too many teens silent until they reach a crisis. Our work changes that through honest conversations, workshops in schools and communities, and partnerships with the people who provide care.
Today we are proud to share that Commit to Break the Stigma has awarded a $10,000 grant to Metrocare Services as a community partner. The grant is designated for SPARC, Metrocare's suicide prevention program for teens. We also organized and set up an annual community book drive for MetroCare's literacy program and donated 250 books. These books help create a welcoming environment and provide comfort, learning, and encouragement to young people receiving mental health services.
SPARC works directly with young people and their families, helping them learn suicide prevention strategies through individual and group sessions. In fiscal year 2025, the program served approximately 120 youth. Clinicians provide one-on-one life and coping skills coaching through the SPARC curriculum.
Metrocare's reach goes far beyond one program. In fiscal year 2025, it served 50,861 people, including 9,056 children and teens through its mental health services.
To our donors and volunteers: this is where your support went. Because this grant is designated for SPARC, it goes directly toward suicide prevention for teens. Thank you for trusting us to put your generosity to work where it matters most.
If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
